MotoCzysz wins race, Brammo wins North American championship in multi-continental TTXGP

While you might have passed last weekend throwing shrimps on the barbie, the people involved with the TTXGP electric motorcycle racing series were busy. Like, three-races-on three-continents busy. To sum up the action; Team Segway Racing MotoCzysz dominated the final event on the North American TTXGP calender while Brammo put together enough points to become season champion, Münch Racing handily won in Sweden and Voltron vanquished all at the TTXGP/eFX event in Australia. Mission Motors rightfully garnered a lot of accolades at the earlier FIM ePower/TTXGP race at Laguna Seca for its commanding performance but Sunday's race at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah makes the case that, with a pro rider and a little more track time, MotoCzysz might have hotly contended that top podium spot. Even with the bike's creator (and non-pro pilot) Michael Czysz in the saddle, the MotoCzysz E1pc reached a higher top speed than the Mission R despite slower lap times. We only wish the Mission crew had made it to Utah. MotoCzysz started on the pole after their newest rider, Shane Turpin, put down a qualifying hot lap that was easily faster than the other electrics, faster than the 600cc gassers and less than 4 seconds off the fastest 1000cc bike. During the race itself, Turpin led the field from the start and finished 30 seconds ahead of Lightning Motorcycles #80 - the world's fastest electric - who took 2nd with Tim Hunt riding in his battery-powered racing debut. Steve Atlas piloted the Brammo Empulse RR to 3rd place just ahead of MotoElectra's Thad Wolff, taking the abbreviated 3-event North American championship. Atlas had also battled hard against a second entry from Lightning Motorcycles but that bike retired after its chain failed. Ely Schless of Proto Moto was the only TTX75 entrant at Miller Motorsports and won top season honors for his efforts.
